Adelaide Nepali Vidhyalaya is a community language and cultural school dedicated to teaching the Nepali language while preserving and celebrating Nepal's rich culture, traditions and heritage.
We welcome students from all cultural backgrounds who are interested in learning the Nepali language and culture. Students must be enrolled in Reception or above at an Australian school.
Our classes are held at Ascot Park Primary School, Park Holme, South Australia.
Classes are held every Saturday during South Australian school terms.
Our programs include speaking, listening, reading and writing in Nepali; vocabulary and grammar; Nepali history and culture; festivals and traditions; music and dance; arts and crafts; and sports and community activities.
Students are grouped according to their age, language ability and learning needs to ensure they receive appropriate support and opportunities to progress.
Yes. New students are welcome throughout the year, subject to class availability.
Current fees are: Nepali Language Classes $50 per student per year; Dance Classes $100 per term.
Parents are welcome to remain on school grounds while classes are in session. Parents of new or younger students may stay in the classroom during the initial settling-in period.
Parents can encourage the use of Nepali at home, read Nepali books together, participate in cultural celebrations, support regular attendance, and stay connected through Spond and school communications.
No. Many volunteer roles do not require previous teaching experience. Training, mentoring and ongoing support are provided.
Yes. All volunteers working directly with students must hold a valid Working with Children Check and complete Child Safe Environments Training.
Yes. Throughout the year we celebrate many important cultural events, including Nepali New Year, Holi, Teej, Dashain, Tihar and Harmony Week.
Yes. Students have opportunities to participate in dance, music, arts and crafts, sports, performances, competitions, excursions and community events throughout the year.
We communicate with families through Spond, Email, Facebook, the School website, and parent announcements during Saturday classes.
